Brikama Avoids Scare To Reach Quarter FinalsBrikama’s captain, Papis Nyassi scored a brace to help the “Satayba” boys to avoid a scared as they come from behind to record a 3-1 win over Serekunda Central and cement their place into the Quarter finals of the Africell Sponsored Super Nawettan.
Papis Nyassi incredible scoring run continued as Brikama zonal team booked their place in the Quarter final of the Zonals. Nyassi alias Vet scored a brace to help increased his tally to five in this year’s Zonal Championship.
Brikama were by far the brightest of the two teams but it was the boys from Serekunda Central who first broke the deadlock. Abdou Sambou pounced on a miss clearance in Brikama’s 18 yard box and gave Serekunda Central an unusual lead.
At some point of the match, Brikama fans nerves were jangling as news of Foni leading JAKU 2-0 stormed the Manjai mini stadium. Even Brikama’s Players’ heart’s were palpitating because there were possibilities of Brikama not making it beyond the group stages if results stay at that point.
Papis Nyassi had a chance to restore sanity but he blasted his shot high over the crossbar from closed range in the 37th minute. Lamin Badjie was at the centre stage of what all Brikama had offered in the first half. L Boy was indeed mesmerising. His pace and dribbling skills tormented the Serekunda Central defence.
Brikama’s overwhelming superiority in the second half made the second stanza a mere formality. Brikama levelled the scoreline in the 67th minute when Serekunda Central goalkeeper Edrissa Gisseh spilled a very powerful shot from Modou Lamin Darboe on the path of Papis Nyassi who poke the ball home from the near post.
Brikama turned the tied around in their favour in the 70th minute. Lamin Badjie was the one who orchestrated the equaliser. Badjie who was playing as a playmaker, distributed the ball well before he played a one-two passed with Baboucarr Sallah, whose teasing cross smashed into the net by Abdoulie Baldeh for Brikama’s second.
Even after Brikama’s second goal, they were still hungry to add a goal for the thump and the third goal would come off the boot of their talismanic striker, Papis Nyassi. Papi’s received an uncalculated back pass by a Serekunda Central defender and rounded up the Serekunda Central goalkeeper before he slotted the in for Brikama’s third and thus the match ended 3-1 in favour of Brikama.
Elsewhere in another group B clashed, Foni stroll pass JAKU with a comprehensive 3-0 victory. That set a mouthwatering contest between Foni and Kombo East. Kombo East is on 9 points while Foni had collected 6 points going into their class with the boys from the Eastern part of Kombo.
