Brikama Sports Committee Knock out Final: Baboucarr Seedy Sillah Renaissance and Hero in Dangam Cup Victory

Baboucarr Seedy Sillah emerged as a surprise hero in Dangam FC heroic 2-0 final win over Greater Tomorrow.
The boys from Busumbala (Dangam), stormed Greater Tomorrow Football Academy with a 2-0 victory. Dangam FC were functional rather than been flamboyant like Greater Tomorrow Football Academy.
Greater Tomorrow threatened here and there but there was no conviction in their play. Dangam FC talisman, Lamin Sonko cannoned a goal-bound shot which stroke the hands of Greater Tomorrow defender, Yahya Bojang and the central referee, Muhammed Marigo pointed to the spot for a penalty. Dangam FC goalkeeper, Seedy took the resulting spot kick and blast in a powerful drive into the net in the 37th minute.
Baboucarr Seedy Sillah’s goal served as an eye-opener for Greater Tomorrow Football Academy boys. Greater Tomorrow’s captain and midfield maestro, Amadou Nyassi’s curling effort came off the woodwork in the 28th minute.
And four minutes later, Abdoulie Baldeh alias Cavani venomous shot hit the post to the dismay of Greater Tomorrow players and faithfuls. Seedy Sillah was also on standby to deny Sheikh Tijan Jah’s diving header from the near post.
Greater Tomorrow Football Academy continued the momentum into the second half and if it was not the stand post, they would have perhaps emerged as the winners.
Lamin Badjie of Greater Tomorrow inexplicable saw his header from closed range hit the stand post from Amadou Nyassi’s inswing freekick in the 53rd minute. As if that was not enough, Abdoulie Baldeh’s thunderbolt shot also came off the stand post in the 60th minute of the scintillating encounter.
The Academy boys would have come to rue the miss, Dangam FC extended the advantage to 2-0 when Lamin Sonko, who goes by his soubriquet, “Lampard” spearheaded a quick counter-attack that saw him feed Sulayman Jatta who then teed the ball for Amadou T. Sonko to tap home in the 86th minute.
Dangam FC went home with a trophy and Forty thousand dalaisis (D40, 000) as winners while Greater Tomorrow Football Academy collected a consolation price of thirty thousand dalaisis (D30,000).
