Brufut Coach Claims Referees Deserve Insults

By Muhammed Lamin Drammeh.
The head coach of the Brufut zonal team, Pa Bojang claimed that Gambian referees deserved insult and they are the one holding the development of football in Gambia.
Bojang made this remarks after a crowd disturbance brought the game to a premature ending against Kombo East. The Eastern side Kombo were leading by two goals to nil but the game was brought to hault as soon as the sending off of player and technical member of Brufut. This led tempers flying and fans started throwing stones and bottles on the pitch. To Pa Bojang, the referee provoke the tension and deserve insults.
“We will insult him. We will insult them. That is what they deserve.” Bojang went on
“This is the reason why Gambian football is going nowhere. They are trying to show their hearts. You cannot tell me that this referee is holding a FIFA badge. We will ask how did he got that.’.. he queried.
Kombo East were awarded a penalty just two minutes before the break, but Pa BOJANG, whose side consided the goal claimed that it wasn’t a penalty and put the blame on the referee for their fall behind, despite his side dominating most of the play on the pitch.
In the second half, Kombo East consolidated their lead through a certain Momodou boy Jallow who converted in a sublime strike.
Since then, the Brufut bench went disarray and one of the coaching staff was visibly seen assaulting the assistant referee. The man was later sent off, a decision that was not welcomed by the fans as they started stonning which prompted the central referee, Taal to called off the epic encounter.
The game brought to a hault in the 86 minute, and Pa Bojang emphatically told plus.gm that they are going to protest because the game didn’t finish.
“We are also going to protest against him. The game didn’t finish so we’ll protest base on the ground that the game isn’t finished.”
The crowd disturbance is a similar one to the Brikama-Kombo East incident barely a month ago, when the Brikama fan made their team suffer the repercussion for their unsportsmanlike behaviour. The Super Nawettan Organising Committee slammed them with thirty-thousand dalasis (D30,000) find and banned them from playing at home (Boxbar) for a period of one year.
BRUFUT now will be giving their ears to the organising committee to know their fate.
