Ebrima Bassu Performs Magic to Send Tubakuta to Semis
Ebrima Bassu, Tubakuta’s goalkeeper produced some remarkable goalkeeping display as he saved two penalties in Tubakuta’s 4-2 penalty shout-out victory over Kafuta village. That send Tubakuta to the semi finals of the Kombo East District Tournament.
Kafuta started strong and came close to scoring in many occasions but all their efforts bore no fruit in the first half.
However, despite being on the backfoot for most of the stanza, Tubakuta village took the lead in the 25th minute when their striker, Abubacarr Sonko poked in the ball from a crowded Kufuta penalty area to make it 1-0.
Kafuta tried to find their way back in to the match before half-time but were unable to do so as they went to the break trailing by a goal to nil.
It was all Kafuta in the second half. But for all their dominance, to they struggled to fashion out any real goal scoring opportunities. However, their mesmerising forward Alieu Bojang restored parity in the 68th minute. Ebrima Bassu, Tubakuta’s goalie had no answers this time as Alieu’s 25 yard drive hit the bottom right corner of the net.
The scintillating encounter ended one-all in the regulation time. Tubakuta’s netminder who saved two penalties to earned his side a 4-2 penalty shout-out win to send Kafuta packing thanks to an impressive goalkeeping display from Ebrima Bassu.
