Fortune Rises to Three-Nil Mauling of Marimoo

Fortune FC rose from their sloppy start in the league with an emphatic three-nil mauling of struggling Marimoo side at the Brikama mini-stadium.

Jane Joof, who expressed his dissatisfaction with his side’s defense lapses in their last week defeat to Real de Banjul brought in six new players in his side to effect a change in his approach.

A slow start for both sides with Marimoo getting most of the chances but failed to convert in any. Just when the fourth referee was about to wave for additional time in the first half, Fortune Ousainou Jallow smashed in a surprising ball from Lamin Saidykhan’s squared in left-footed ball, to open the scoring for the petroleum boys.

In the recess, the tempo of the game changed by an enterprising Fortune side. In the 47 minutes, Lamin Saidykhan again made a sublime cross in the Marimoo danger zone for another debutant Modou Lamin Ndow to poke it home and make it two for Fortune.

In the 87 minutes, Fortune had a set-piece which was cleverly launched by Lamin Saidykhan only for Marimoo net minder to parriah in for the advancing Bully Dahaba, who made no mistake by putting the ball at the back of net to put the game beyond bottom side Marimoo reach.

The Gambia U20 star Lamin Saidykhan, alias “Lefoe’ assisted all the goals for Fortune FC.

Lamin Saidykhan, who goes by the moniker “Lefoe’ starred on his first game of the season as he set all the three goals for Fortune. Speaking to plus.gm after the game, Jane joof, the head coach of fortune football club said that the coming of the Gambia U20 midfielder is a moral booster and has changed the game even though he expected more from Saidykhan.

“The coming of him is a moral boaster. Having him together with his U20 mate in Tijan Marr and Lamin Chatty is something that we have been looking forward. Even though he didn’t give 100% but he had a good game and we are expecting more from him.

Lamin Saidykhan is playing his first game for his club after returning from the Under 20 WAFU competition in Conakry.
“My secret is hardwork”, Saidykhan would tell Plus.gm, “I do extra training at the gym and this has helped me. I know I’m expected to do more this season, so I’ll continue to work hard and compliment the expectations from the coach”.

FORTUNE will now moved from 11th possible to 8th whilest Marimoo remained rooted at the bottom of the table.
