Gambians Celebrate Mane’s Award as Africa Best Player

Gambian footballers and football lovers joined the rest of the world to congrats Sadio Mane for been awarded his first Africa best player 2019 by the CAF in Egypt Kairo on Tuesday.

Foday Jatta a sport a journalist said Mane’s award as Africa best of the year was not a surprise for him because he has done as much as Messi has done in the world.

He added that “if Sadio speech on Tuesday didn’t inspire you then nothing can inspire you because he come from the Southern part of Senegal which is not close to Dakar but with believe and courage he went to Dakar for trials and today he is among the best players in the world”.

“So this shows that been in Kiang or Jarra or anywhere else doesn’t mean that you do not have a chance or you should say that Gambia Football Federation (GFF) is not coming to us, so I have to sit and wait for them but instead work hard, go for what you want and you would surely enjoy the benefit from football,” Said Jatta.

Lamin Sanneh a footballer of Uprising Football Team said, “Sadio’s award is a motivation for us as young players. It shows that we all can do it, if we are willing to pursue it like him. It’s about hard work and determination with that we can be like him”.

Saliamtou Sidibeh Sissoho the mother of Sainey Sissoho, The Gambia Female Football Coordinator said; “Senegal is our neighboring country and if they have something good we should be happy and join them in the celebration because we also have Sulayman Marreh who is doing very well in the field and we want him to do as Sadio Mane has done”.

Alimou Jallow a football fan said he is happy for the fact that Sadio is a Senegambian and a brother from the neighboring country, Senegal. He added that “Sadio Mane deserved the award because he is hardworking and humble, the voters did not make the wrong decision for voting him as Africa best player of 2019”.

Sadio Mane, the Senegalese international and Liverpool star has been in an astonishing form for a year so, helping Liverpool to their 6th UEFA Champions trophy and helping his national, Senegal to the runner-up of African cup of Nations all in 2019.
