GNOC SG completes MEMOS Executive Masters
Banjul, The Gambia,
The Secretary General of the Gambia National Olympic Committee Mr Abdoulie Jallow recently successfully completed his final presentation of his project for his Executive Masters in Sports Management (MEMOS) at the Olympic Museum in September 2019.
Mr Jallow joins Mr Ousman Wadda the GNOC Treasurer and Mrs Khadija Babou Njie the former Gambia Swimming Association President to have completed the MEMOS. Mr Jallow was on an Olympic Solidarity Scholarship through the GNOC. The main focus of his project is to improve governance in our national sports structures.
According to Mr Jallow, the topic is apt as our sports have been experiencing a deviation in its development mainly due to poor governance. For most sports bodies it is the lack of capacity and how to address those gaps.
Allowing the status quo is no longer a viable option as a result we need to address the issues of governance at all levels of our sports he says.
He stated that the course has provided him with the appropriate tools to critically assess the prevailing situation in our sporting organisations. In addition he said his research has identified critical gap which when addressed would see a positive shift in sports organisations in the Gambia.
