Kombo East Brushes Aside Serrekunda Central

Kombo East beats Serrekunda Central 3 – 0 in the underway Africell Super Nawettan at the Serrekunda West park, on Sunday 3 October, 2019.

Modou Kujabi, Fakebba Jaiteh and Momodou Boy Jallow score for the Western Region District to comfortably win Serrekunda Central.

Kombo East started the game the brightest and caused Serrekunda Central in the very first minute, using their pacy wingers to send crosses into the Central box.

The Western Region District’s early dominance paid dividend as they break the deadlock as early as 5 minutes. Star striker Momodou Boy Jallow dropped deep to collect a pass in the middle and released Alieu Bojang, who beats his marker for pace and spinned the ball beyond the recovering Central defenders for Modou Kujabi to tap in from close range.

Fakebba Jaiteh could’ve doubled East’s lead after stamping off target from close range from Alieu Bojang’s cross. Goalscorer Modou Kujabi went close after Momodou Boy Jallow delightfully clipped the ball over the Serrekunda Central defense but Kujabi wasn’t compose to finish the opportunity as his half volley went wide.

Serrekunda Central almost equalised after Kombo East’s skipper Mustapha Fandeh made a defensive error. Fandeh tried to pass his right-back Muhammed closely pressing him. Muhammed Jabbi intercepts the pass and layed it for Abdou Sambou whose short hit the crossbar and Kombo East cleared their line.

Coming from the locker rooms, Serrekunda Central’s substitute Ngange Demba receives the ball on the wing, cuts inside and picks his fellow sub Francis Mendy just at the edge of the East eighteen yard box, but Mendy’s shot went just wide.

Serrekunda Central’s hope getting at a point hits a blow after their shotstopper Bakary Bajo’s howler caused them the second goal. A short was clipped from the left by Kombo East into his raised hands but he somehow drops it behind him and Fakebba Jaiteh said thank you as he taps it into an empty net on the 61st minute.

Kombo East and Jiboro star striker Momodou Boy Jallow puts the icing on the cake, header home a corner from substitute Lamarana Jallow.

Kombo East wins their first ever opening game in the Super Nawettan since joining the competition in 2017, and sits on top of Group B after their emphatic 3 nil victory over Serrekunda Central.

The other Group B result is; Brikama 2 – 1 JAKU (Jarra Kiang United) and Foni will play Brikama in Brikama on Wednesday, 6 November for their first game.
