The disciplinary committee of the Africell Sponsored Super Nawettan has levied a fine of D30,000 on Brufut zonal team and threatened to ban them if they fail to pay the fine before the commencement of next year’s tourney.
This development came following the scenes that marred Brufut-Kombo East enthralling encounter in the quarter finals of the Zonals Championship. The match erupted with trouble which compelled the central referee, Modou Lamin Taal to abandon the match in the 86th minute.
The disciplinary committee of the super Nawettan, found Brufut culpable for incitement of violence according to a letter sent to Brufut and copy to all zones.
“Having gone through the report of the match officials, your player (Brufut) Adama Saidy was shown a red card by the referee for using an abusive language on him in the 82nd minute of the match and also one of your technicians who was reported to have insulted/ used abusive language on the 4th referee resulting to his expulsion by the central referee.” A statement from the Super Nawettan Organising committee reads.
It continues “The reaction of Baboucarr Bay in kicking the reserved match ball encouraged the fans to start throwing stones to the match officials thus warranting the central referee to call off the match hence it became uncontrollable.”
In addition to the D30,000 fine imposed on Brufut, Their star player, Adama Saidy is also suspended for two matches while Baboucarr Bay is baned for four matches starting from next year.
