Super Nawettan: Jarju Dreams of Winning, Manga Sets to Be Next John Ndure of Brikama: Kombo East And Brikama Jostle For a Place in The Final
By Muhammed Lamin Drammeh.
Not many football pundits will tag Kombo East to finished first in a group which includes Brikama and not even their fans dream of going this far in this year’s super Nawettan. But Momodou Jarju, the head coach of the team has been dreaming of winning the championship and turned doubters into believers.
Tomorrow, November 27, the boys from the Eastern side of Kombo will definitely have to contain the lethal attack of the Brikama Zonal team if Jarju’s dream of winning the competition will become a reality.
“We have played against them, so I’m not surprised by the goals they scored. What I can tell you is that, we are hundred percent prepared for the game”, Jarju will tell plus.gm ahead of their crucial clash against the wounded Brikama side that are set to revenge at the Serrekunda West mini stadium.
“Everyday I dream of winning this trophy. So winning the trophy will not be a surprise to me because I know I have the materials with me. I really have the materials with me and I’m expecting it (trophy).” He told plus.gm after securing a place into the semi final.
The last time the two zones played, was in the group stages and Kombo East went home with a solid three points despite the game ended prematurely. And the defeat on Brikama forced the group favourite to decide their fate in the last game and finished a point behind Kombo East.
Modou Manga is the head coach of the Brikama side and has been telling reporters that anything less than winning the championship is a failure for his side. Brikama played two finals since their maiden celebration of winning the championship in 2012. In 2013, John Ndure, who won the trophy couldn’t fulfill his “Operation back to back’ slogan as they lost to Serrekunda West. Last year, Brikama were a step closer to winning the trophy but were denied by Super Nawettan serial winners, Serrekunda East.
“I am 100% sure i will make it to the finals”, the upbeat Manga told plus.gm
“My players knew what is at stake, we were finalist last year and we all knew anything below the final is a failure and we all dont want to fail.. As am speaking I am 100% ready and the players. We want to go one step ahead of their last year performance.. And one step ahead will be to win the trophy and I believe we will”.
According to the head coach of the Kombo East side, Momodou Jarju, he his seeing signs that he is going to win the trophy and will surely pass Brikama on their way back home celebrating the trophy.
Both sides are sanguine going into the game. Brikama is blessed with a lethal attacking trio of Papis Nyassi, Lamin Badjie and Abdoulie Baldeh, but Alieu sanyang, a fan club coordinator of the Kombo East zonal side said that their team will contain the attackers of Brikama..” we are going to defend them. The best way to attack is to defend and we are coming with full force. I believe in my team and I know that they can score at any minute. Looking at my striking force they can deliver well and there is no team that can stop us from scoring” he emphatically said.
Ansumana Camara is an ardent supporter of the Brikama Zonal team and the former SG of BSC.. he believe that despite Kombo East being a side to watch in the competition, he’s going to bet for his town, Brikama. Mr. Camara said that it’ll be a revenge on Kombo East and the attacking trio of the sataayba boys can do the damage if they are supplied..
Modou Jarju dreams of winning the championship and Modou Manga sets to be another John Ndure of Brikama as he sets to win the trophy for his side, but first, they have to find a way to pass the stubborn and upbeat Kombo East side at the Serre Kunda East mini stadium.
Will the game end without violence? The questions will definitely be answered after the final whistle when the two sides will jostle for a place in the final.
