WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Queen Scorpions’ Suffers Defeat in Maiden SeneGambia Friendly
The Queen Scorpions have suffered a dramatic 3 – 2 defeat to Senegal IN the first ever international friendly in recent times between both countries in this category.
All-time record goal scorer Adama Tamba and teenager Ola Buwaro got the goals for the Queen Scorpions at the Jules Francois Bocande Centre on Wednesday evening.
The match is one of the two-legged international friendly to be played this week in Dakar.
Gambia arrived the Senegalese capital less than 24 hours to the first leg of the double-header with a 20-woman squad named by head coach Mariama Sowe.
Both countries football federations agreed to the friendlies after the Wafu Zone A Women’s Cup tournament has been put on hold till further notice.
The friendlies also serve as part of the two countries build up to the their 2020 African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the Gambia facing Guinea Bissau and Senegal taking on Liberia in March 2020.
The two countries will again square off for the second encounter at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies on Saturday evening.
